We began teaching at the Primary School for Novice Monks this week. This is a small, old wooden school in the grounds of Wat Manorom – a temple well known for the colourful murals painted on the walls.

34 Novice Monks attend this school in 2 classes. They are the Novices who haven’t finished their primary school before joining a temple. While most are between 10 and 12 years old there are a few that are quite older.

It’s a great opportunity to start teaching English before they enter their secondary education. Then they will follow on with us when they join the Secondary School. This continuity will have its rewards in the future - in a few years time when we have been teaching the same classes for several years.
