A must see Wat!

Wat Xieng Thong is well known as being arguably the finest example of a monestery. The beautiful stone mosaics and intricate carvings at this monestery make it really stand out from the rest for me.

The Wat includes several chapels including one that houses a rare bonze reclining Buddha and another containing a gilded wooden funeral chariot, as well as many Buddha statues.

But the highlight for me is on the back of the temple, which is encrusted with a beautiful glass mosaic depicting a boddhi tree. The temple is also surrounded by gardens of hibiscus and bougainvillea, shaded by banyan and palm trees. A very blissful place to visit one afternoon between classes.
