Top 10 things to do in and around Luang Prabang

Here's a list of our favourite ways to spend our free time in Luang Prabang.....
1) Visit Kuang Si Waterfalls and swim in one of the many pools at the bottom of the waterfall.
2) Watch the sunset (or sunrise) from the top of Phousi Hill.
3) Get up early and watch (or take part in) the traditional giving of alms to the Monks.
4) Have a traditional Lao massage.
5) Visit the National Museum and some of the temples around the town. Of particular interest are Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Mai (below) and Wat Manoram.
6) Spend a day elephant riding and mahout training at Elephant village.
7) Go on a cooking course and learn to make some popular Lao dishes.
8) Spend a day kayaking, trekking or rock climbing.
9) Take a boat trip along the Mekong and visit the Pak Ou caves (below) where hundreds of Buddha images are kept.
10) Enjoy the local food at one of the many riverside restaurants before wandering back through the night market. A perfect way to end a busy day.
