Novices' Blessing of Volunteers

After Thursday night's class at Wat Pasa Viet – a group of young novices and local village boys, there was an impromptu blessing given by the students to their teachers – the volunteers. At the end of the lesson, the class stood, the volunteers knelt and a blessing was chanted over their bowed heads. Unfortunately, this moment wasn’t captured successfully in a photo but will be one of many unforgettable moments for volunteers who have the opportunity of working with the Novices and Monks. When the prayers were over, each of us had a blessing band tied on our wrists by the young novices. These cotton blessing bands are made by the Novices and Monks and are tied onto peoples’ wrists with blessings of good luck.
