A chance to get out of 'the big smoke'

On Saturday a group of 6 volunteers went and visited Ban Lak Sip village, about 20 minutes from Luang Prabang. Even though it was only 20 minutes out of town, the kids were far poorer and had vastly fewer opportunities than the students we generally teach. After climbing up a very slippery, muddy hill (it had been raining all day so it was a bit of a struggle!) we met the children. They were all very excited to see us. There were about 30 students all together between the ages of about 3-16. I was paired with Anthony and Bree, and we taught a group of kids about animals. They were so excitable and loved playing games! They went crazy when we had them act like animals - it was so cute! After our lesson some of the kids performed traditional Lao dancing for us. The kids were so sweet. My favourite dance was between a boy and girl, the boy was very cute, he was about 7 or 8 and so earnest. We played with the kids for a while, a few of the girls attached themselves to Bree and myself...we were tempted to take them home with us they were so adorable! It was a great day.
