Xayadeth Summer School Classes

It is the summer holiday here in Laos but we are still busy teaching English to eager students! Currently, we are teaching 4 summer school classes at Xayadeth College. These classes are for any children between the ages of 5 and 20 years old who would like to learn English over their school break. The classes begin at 8:30 in the morning and are two hours long. Two hours may seem like a long time but they fly by with lots of practice activities, games, 1 short break and having entertaining teachers. Each class has 2 native speakers who are the GVI volunteers from around the world. Each class also has a Lao teacher who helps with translation and assisting the volunteer teachers in checking book work and making lesson plans. Today one of the classes sang “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” while learning body parts. Another class was working on the sounds of the alphabet while the more advanced classes learned about opposites and what different homes around the world look like. These Xayadeth summer school classes will last another 2 months and then the university students will return for another busy school year!
