What to Wear on the GVI Laos Teaching Project
-
While you are touring around the town please
remember that the locals dress very modestly. We like to keep our shoulders and
knees covered with no cleavage showing. Also, please refrain from wearing skin
tight or see-through clothing. Did you know that the Lao people swim fully
clothed??
-
Collared shirts must be worn for both men and
women while teaching. They can be short or long sleeved but must cover the
shoulders, be long enough to tuck in and have no gaping holes where the buttons
are.
-
Sins (the traditional Lao skirt) will be worn by
females when they are teaching. We have a supply that you may borrow from or
you can buy your own. The night market is full of many beautiful choices! Men wear long trousers while teaching, no jeans please.
-
Any shoes are fine as long as they are not
rubber flip flops which the locals call “bathroom shoes”. In the wet season
make sure to wear good rain shoes and other rain gear! In a few of our temples
you must take off your shoes before teaching.
We are looking forward to seeing you
on the project!
