The Passing of a Good Man
Giving a blessing to a visitor to the temple |
GVI extends
their sincere condolences to all the Monks and Novices of Wat Pasa Viet upon
the passing of their Abbot, Satu Porgi, on 28th March.
Over the 2
years of GVI working at Wat Pasa Viet, Satu Porgi has been a strong ally. Under
his leadership of the temple, 3 rooms were handed over to GVI to commence
English classes – an honour that we have been very grateful for.
Satu Porgi
was passionate about his Novices receiving education and was proactive in bringing
educational opportunities to the temple. Under his strong and wise leadership
and his recognition of the importance of education, GVI volunteers have been
doing work to be proud of. Satu Porgi may have also been a little proud to have
us there too.
I had the
good fortune to be in Satu Porgi’s presence many times over the last 2 years. I
would enjoy his passion for education, his sense of humour and his quick and
hearty laugh. It was easy to work with him as his genuineness about what was
the best for the Novices shone through.
